Overview
This collection showcases the intricate and stunning work of Raja Shahriman, a master sculptor who has dedicated his life to craft in the creation of traditional keris-inspired sculpture using metal. Raja's work pays homage to this tradition while also pushing the boundaries of what is possible with metal. Through his skilled craftsmanship and innovative techniques Raja has created a series of sculptures inspired by keris named LOK. Each piece is a testament to the artist's skill and dedication, as well as to the rich cultural heritage of Southeast Asia.
Statement
Raja Shahriman Bin Raja Aziddin, born on November 17, 1967, in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, is a renowned Malaysian sculptor and artist with a diverse body of work showcased in various exhibitions across the globe. A graduate of Universiti Teknologi Mara with a degree in Art & Design (Fine Art), he has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions, leaving a significant impact on the international art scene. Some of his notable exhibitions include "LOK" at the National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, "Gembala Mana O Si Gembala" in Penang State Museum, and "Rhythm of the 21st Century-Monologues of Raja Shahriman" at Petronas Gallery, KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.

Raja Shahriman's art is celebrated in prestigious collections such as the National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, PETRONAS Gallery, Fukuoka Art Museum in Japan, and the National Singapore Museum. Apart from being an accomplished artist, he is dedicated to community work, mentoring students from various higher learning institutes, and sharing his expertise in traditional weaponry as a consultant and trainer. As a weapon consultant to the Museum of Pahang, he has contributed to the collection and classification of keris and other weapons for Muzium Sultan Abu Bakar, Pekan, Pahang. With an illustrious career spanning over three decades, Raja Shahriman's unique perspective and mastery of sculpture continue to inspire generations of artists and art enthusiasts.

LOKGAM is the first installment in a series of five exhibitions, each exploring one of the five elemental elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth.
