OCCUPIED SPACES HANA TAN, ARASH JABBAR, LOQMAN ZAINAL, HAFIZUDDIN AZMAN 16 August - 7 September 2025 Occupied Spaces brings together four Malaysian artists—Hana Tan, Arash Jabbar (Yash), Loqman Zainal, and Hafizuddin Azman—whose practices examine the relationship between bodies and the spaces they move through, remember, or quietly inhabit. The exhibition centers on the idea that space is never neutral. It stores memory, absorbs identity, and quietly reflects the figures that pass through it—whether through presence or absence. Each artist approaches this condition differently, yet with a shared sensibility: attuned to interior states, to residual memory, and to the quiet drama of space.
OUTSIDE-IN 12 - 27 July 2025 Outside-in presents new work by Fauzan Fuad (b.1987, Kuala Lumpur), Dhavinder Singh (b.1983, Kuala Lumpur), and Sanan Anuar (b.1992, Kelantan) —three Malaysian artists whose practices unfold at a distance from the institutional art world. The title gestures toward multiple thresholds—between private and public, interior and exterior, centre and margin. Across painting and mixed media, each artist turns inward, drawing from solitude, memory, and domestic space to examine how the self is shaped by its surroundings. Together, Outside-in presents a kind of interior weather—personal, atmospheric, slow-moving. These are not statements made from the centre, but observations from the edges. They reflect how distance can be not just isolating, but also clarifying.
BEING. HERE. WONG PERNG FEY 24 May - 21 June 2025 Galeri Sasha is pleased to present Being. Here, a solo exhibition by Wong Perng Fey (b.1974, Kuala Lumpur) on view from May 24th to June 21st. Perng Fey’s latest body of work marks a decisive shift in tone—away from the psychological urgency of his Beijing years and enters a space of clarity, wit, and restraint. Created between Austria and Malaysia, this series weaves together painting, sculpture, and a contemporary interpretation of Wayang Kulit, inviting us into a dialogue between past and present, self and society. In Being. Here, Wong Perng Fey invites viewers to reflect on what it means to be fully present—within the layered, often contradictory forces that shape identity. Through nuanced compositions and the integration of cultural motifs, he offers a meditation on presence without performance; on being, rather than becoming. The exhibition signals a moment of arrival. Through its measured vocabulary of colour, form, and material, Being. Here quietly asserts that to remain—attentive, grounded, and unguarded—is a radical act. In doing so, Perng Fey affirms his place within an evolving conversation around contemporary abstraction and the politics of self-representation.
BINO FADHLI ARIFFIN 19 April - 10 May 2025 Galeri Sasha is pleased to present Bino, a solo exhibition by Fadhli Ariffin “Pali” (b.1989, Perak) on view from April 19th to May 10th. In Bino, Fadhli Ariffin returns to his roots—both geographically and spiritually—by drawing inspiration from light itself. The word “Bino,” derived from the colloquial Perak dialect, stems from "berbinar-binar"—the glimmer or shimmer of light reflected on water. This phenomenon becomes the conceptual anchor for a new body of work that continues Pali’s signature exploration of repetition, layering, and mark-making. The works in Bino are not representations of nature but extensions of it. They carry the marks of a process that is both deliberate and instinctive—one that embraces imperfection, embraces change. Through this, Fadhli creates a visual language that is deeply personal, yet open to interpretation. His compositions shimmer not only with colour, but with a sense of presence—anchored in the moment, yet endlessly shifting.
INBETWEEN WORLDS FAIZAL YUNUS 19 October - 1 December 2024 Galeri Sasha is pleased to present Inbetween Worlds, the fifth solo exhibition by Malaysian artist Faizal Yunus. This series of 17 paintings, which was produced over the period of a year, marks a bold departure in both concept and process from his previous work. Inbetween Worlds explores the tension between the rural landscapes of Faizal’s childhood in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, and the industrial urbanism of his current life in Selangor. At its core, Inbetween Worlds is an exploration of place and Faizal's personal evolution as an artist. His style has shifted from abstraction to a balance of realism and surrealism, mirroring his journey towards equilibrium. Each work carries a poetic title, inviting viewers to explore the emotional narratives embedded within, offering a meditation on the transitions that shape his life.
